The Future Is Wood

More than ever before, the world needs sustainable, renewable wood  products that sequester carbon and combat global warming. West Fraser’s sustainably sourced timber and associated wood products can be an important part of a natural climate solution.

Products & Operations

Timber for a Better Tomorrow

West Fraser delivers high-quality, responsibly-produced, reliable building products from sustainably managed and certified forests. Our facilities operate state-of-the-art equipment and controls to ensure our products meet the strictest of quality control standards. As a leading manufacturer of softwood lumber and wood products in North America and Europe, West Fraser has an important role to play in low carbon construction.

Beyond softwood lumber, West Fraser makes a wide range of engineered wood solutions including oriented strand board (OSB), laminated veneer lumber (LVL), medium density fibreboard (MDF), as well plywood, particleboard and pulp. Together, our products and operations are contributing to a more sustainable future.

Sustainability

Taking Action on What Matters

West Fraser’s products are natural, renewable, recyclable and  environmentally friendly. Third-party independent auditors and forest certifications verify that we have met high standards in key environmental, social and governance criteria. That includes the sustainable growing and harvesting of trees with the protection of habitat, wildlife, plants, water and soil quality and a wide range of other conservation goals.

As we grow our operations we’re unlocking new possibilities from wood fibre when it comes to engineered wood products, bioenergy, and other bioproducts. And we’re continually improving our manufacturing processes and waste recovery, to get the best value out of every piece of wood we harvest.

Climate Solutions

How Wood Can Address Global Challenges

West Fraser delivers sustainable, high-value wood products that store carbon. With the least embodied energy of all major building materials, wood requires less energy from harvest to transport, manufacturing, installation, maintenance and disposal or recycling.

Known for its strength and durability, along with its beauty and warmth, sustainably harvested wood products are recognized by the international community, including the United Nations and the World Economic Forum for its important role in addressing global challenges and climate concerns.

People & Communities

As a company founded decades ago as a family business in a small town, West Fraser understands the importance of doing the right thing for the environment, local communities and our employees.
