Forest Policy
West Fraser has 100% certified sustainable forest management and 100% certified responsible fibre sourcing practices. Together this represents a company-wide focus on environmental responsibility and the long-term sustainability of forests.

Our Approach
Sustainable forests, ecosystems, biodiversity, and communities are the cornerstone of a sustainable wood and wood fiber supply, and business excellence. Our Forest Policy is designed to promote the resilience and health of our forests—a resource that is vital not only to West Fraser, but to all people.
We are committed to following sustainable forest and climate-smart practices, adapting as we learn more about best approaches, all while responsibly balancing the need for timber with the health of the forests and the life they support.
To further foster the sustainable management of forest lands that West Fraser directly manages, and to promote the sustainable management of wood and wood fibre procurement sources, West Fraser developed our Forest Policy. This policy lays out a cohesive and unified set of expectations for sustainable, responsible management of forests, covering all forest management and fibre procurement operations, across the company and the countries in which we operate.
The policy was developed with consideration to forest management and procurement, certification coverage, peer policies and other notable issues affecting forests and the forest sector such as traceability, deforestation, conversion, degradation and biodiversity.
As the landscape evolves—from environmental challenges to regulatory requirements—the policy will be systematically reviewed and updated to ensure that it is meeting our sustainability ambitions.
