Reference Checks

Reference checks help us verify your employment and education history, and learn more about your background, experiences and skills.  Make sure to provide references who can speak directly to your job skills and abilities, and share stories of your past successes. Also, make sure that the contact information you’ve supplied for your references is current

Offer

Congratulations, you’ve received a job offer!  An offer typically will include the salary, start date, benefits package information, conditions and any other relevant information for the role. You can ask your recruiter questions about the offer, and you will have time to decide to accept.

Employment Contract

Once you’ve accepted the offer, we will provide you with an employment contract for both parties to sign. Upon signing, your application process is complete. Welcome to the West Fraser team!

Tips

Do Your Homework

We like to see candidates take initiative and demonstrate that they are serious about the job opportunity. Researching our company can help you with your application and during the interview process.

Confirm the Interview

Confirming the job interview makes you appear professional and allows you to ask any questions you may have about the process or any other information you might be missing.

Come Prepared

Research common interview questions and think through your responses. It’s also helpful to come to your interview prepared with a list of questions you have about the job and WestFraser. This shows your interest in the role and working at our company.

Dress for Success

During an interview, you want to make the right impression. Your clothing should be professional and give the interviewer the sense that you take your application seriously and that you're the right fit for the job.

Get Organized

If your interview is virtual, set yourself up for success by testing your technology, taking the interview in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed, keeping your background neutral, making sure the lighting is good and dressing appropriately.

Listen Well

Active listening is another way to demonstrate that you are engaged in the interview. It will also help you pick up on information that an interviewer provides and clues on what they want to hear. It also helps turn the interview into a conversation versus a Q&A.

Share Examples

Be ready to share examples of your accomplishments, anecdotes on how you successfully managed a challenge, and specific things you achieved during your studies orprevious work experience.

Follow Up

At the close of your interview, thank your interviewer for their time. It is also recommended that you send a thank you note afterwards and reiterate your interest. These actions show professionalism and a commitment to the role.
