Meet Our People
Forestry
At West Fraser, we believe in creating a better future through sustainable forestry that enhances the long-term health of forest ecosystems while meeting the environmental, social and economic needs of current and future generations.
Growing and thriving forests is fundamental to our business. Our teams of forestry professionals are deeply committed to healthy and sustainable forests and the responsible stewardship of forest resources.
We offer forestry positions in the U.S.—where we have 100% certified responsible fibre sourcing—and in Canada, where we have 100% certified sustainable forest management for our managed forest area, which encompasses approximately 8.2 million hectares of public land. The types of forest professional roles we offer include in the areas of forestry; silviculture, planning and operations; biology; environment and land use; GIS, survey & mapping and more.
Trades
Tradespeople—including heavy-duty mechanics, millwrights, electricians, instrumentation mechanics, sawfilers, benchpeople, pipefitters and welders—are crucial to West Fraser’s manufacturing and operations. The jobs are the backbone of many of the more than 60 communities in which we operate.
We strongly believe in on-the-job learning and promoting from within. In addition to in-house courses, West Fraser maintains educational partnerships to support and expand access to trades training and industrial certification education for our employees.
We also support the trades workforce of the future by working with educational institutions to build capacity, improve the quality of education and remove barriers to create access for those traditionally underrepresented in the trades, including women and Indigenous Peoples so that companies like ours can hire a workforce that better reflects the communities in which we operate.
If you’ve completed a pre-apprentice or foundation trades program, working at West Fraser is an excellent way to build your career. We offer challenging opportunities that can open a path to an apprenticeship at one of our operations.
If you’re just starting to explore opportunities and you’re interested in a trade, joining the company in an entry-level role can provide the chance of a trades apprenticeship
