“Hope” Rescued at Alberta Plywood
Sustainable and responsible forest stewardship is much more than trees.

West Fraser’s team members work closely together to manage many other attributes of a healthy forest – even at our mill sites – as demonstrated recently by the team at Alberta Plywood in Edmonton, Alberta.
West Fraser’s Alberta Plywood team displayed their dedication to wildlife by rescuing an injured owl that was found at their mill. Curtis Simpson, Dryer Attendant, acted quickly by placing the owl in a tote and immediately alerting the bird rescue team.
The rescue team promptly arrived and took the owl, named “Hope” by the team, into their care. The quick thinking and compassionate actions of everyone involved ensured the owl’s safety, which exemplifies the West Fraser commitment to wildlife and our values of integrity and teamwork.
