Data & Indices

Environmental excellence is foundational to operational excellence. Research, innovation and continuous improvement are helping us reduce emissions and unlock the full benefit of the resources in our value chain.

The disclosure in the 2022 Sustainability Report is primarily informed by applicable Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) disclosure requirements, complemented with  disclosure guidance from Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.

Through the natural carbon cycle and our climate action plans, West Fraser is building on our legacy of the sustainability performance of our products and enhancing the social, environmental and economic benefit in the communities in which we operate.

2022 Ratings & Rankings

In 2022, West Fraser’s disclosures resulted in ratings and rankings through our global ESG engagement partners, recognized as leading authorities on sustainability performance.

These ratings and rankings help us measure and benchmark our progress. 

EcoVadis

West Fraser achieved a Bronze Medal 2022 EcoVadis Sustainability Ranking.

EcoVadis is one of the world’s largest and most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings, with a global network of more than 130,000+ rated companies. To achieve an EcoVadis medal, a company must meet standards in the following categories: Environment, Ethics, Labour & Human Rights and Sustainable Procurement.

MSCI

West Fraser achieved an AA MSCI ESG Rating.

MSCI ESG Ratings measure a company’s management of financially relevant ESG risks and opportunities. It uses a rules-based methodology to identify industry leaders and laggards according to their exposure to ESG risks and how well they manage those risks relative to peers. An AA rating is classified by MSCI ESG Ratings as an industry leader.

CDP

West Fraser achieved CDP Discloser 2022 status.

CDP is a world-leading environmental disclosure system for companies and other entities to manage their environmental impacts. West Fraser reports data to CDP, helping to drive action through greater transparency.

S&P

West Fraser achieved a 37/100 S&P Global ESG Score 2022.

S&P Global ESG Scores actively drives corporate disclosures and helps raise the bar on sustainability standards over time. S&P Global ESG Scores are informed by in-depth company engagement with ESG data points checked against reliable public sources, in addition to media and stakeholder analysis.
